Business Profile

Watson-Marlow Pumps Group Peristaltic pumps have no valves, seals or glands, and the fluid contacts only the bore of the hose or tube. Simple to install, easy to use, and quick to maintain, they are the hot new technology, and the world's fastest-growing pump type. Nothing but the hose or tube touches the fluid, eliminating the risk of the pump contaminating the fluid, or the fluid contaminating the pump.

The animation shows fluid being drawn into a pump, trapped between two shoes (in a Bredel hose pump) or rollers (in a Watson-Marlow tube pump), and finally being expelled from the pump. Gaps between packets of fluid are shown only to help visualise the action.

The complete closure of the hose which is squeezed between a shoe and the track gives the pump its positive displacement action, preventing back-flow and eliminating the need for check-valves when the pump is not running.

Every year, tens of thousands of Watson-Marlow pumps are fitted as original equipment in equipment ranging from fermentors and bio-reactors to orange juice and milkshake dispensers, from road-cutting machines to keyhole surgery equipment, and seed-coating machines to printing presses. No other company has such a wealth of experience.

Every series of pumps is available for OEM use at flow rates from microlitres a minute to hundreds of gallons a minutes and from one to thirty-two channels of flow. Pumpheads, geared motors, faceplates and speed controllers are all available, as is a design consultancy for specialised applications.

We know how vital it is to get straight-line communications from designer to designer, so the Sony Polyspan videoconferencing links at our plants are open to you to take advantage of in OEM projects.

Every OEM application is different - it has to be: every customer's requirement is different. But each project receives the same attention to detail and cost control. Watson-Marlow Bredel Pumps works hand in hand with customers to bring peristaltic pumping expertise to a variety of different applications and duties.
